Regarding an OM-5, the sales would be low but not zero. The majority of camera
users require only a point and shoot auto-everything electronic marvel that will
slip in their shirt pocket. Cameras like this sell in the millions world wide.
However, there will always be a small but solid demand for more capable cameras,
such as the OM-1, for special applications by amatuer astronmers, medical
professionals, the scientific community, and the hard-core amatuer photograpers
such as are on this Olympus user list.
This means that an OM-1, or an FM-2n will always be in demand but will never
sell
at the same levels as point and shoot cameras. Olympus SHOULD produce an OM-5
and
price it to still be profitable even with the low volumes of sales it would
generate.
An OM-5 would sell for over $1000, but this would still be better than not
having
one available at all.
