Hi dear Olympionics,
nice to meet this list - since
Friday last week i´m reading,
compliments to the owner(s) of the
list, thank you for your work.
Maybe it will be interest for you
who i am.
first: my english language is not
VERY good ;-) - so, please be
patient and, if you may, give
critics to me - i wanna learn :-))
I´m living in Münster - Germany,
Westfalian - and i´m (surprise,
surprise) a german.
my first camera was an OM-2, i
bought it in 1978 - several months
of hard working as a newsvendor
were necessary - i never regret.
In the 80s i become a pro at a
local newspaper - local stuff of
reportage - time after time i
bought other OMs and lenses -
Om-1n, OM-3, OM-4, OM-4T - lenses
about 18mm up to 300mm, all ZUIKOS.
my favorite is the 2/24 - i love
it, mostly used available light
with b/w-Film Kodak PAN 400, or
newer, T-Max 3200 with D-76 or
T-Max developer.
One of the merits of the OM i found
as a pro, that is its less weight -
my equipment was 1/3 lighter than
CANON or NIKON, but not less in
quality. The colleagues had to go
daily to their
physiotherpeuts.......;-)). And the
solidity of the OM-system was/is
not worse - but the service
(Hamburg) was much faster and very
friendly all time.
In the 90s i changed my profession
- now im a musician and
music-teacher - but still an
engaged Foto-Amateur-semipro - and
i don´t want to change the
OM-System, ´cause it depends to a
1000n me. Autofocus i never need
- an not any other "Schnickschnack".
on the other hand i worked with
Hasselblad and a 6x9cm
Linhof-Technika with ZEISS-lenses -
including the fantastic Biogon 53mm.
BTW: bevore the ZUIKO 3.5/18mm i
bought a TOKINA 3.5/17mm - and i
found it was a very good glass (not
only for the price (ca 180 US$)).
But later (enough money after a
while) i take the ZUIKO. i found,
that it is sharp and absolutel y
useful at an aperture of f3.5. The
vignetting is not bad - you can
work it out in the darkroom - only
dias are sometimes a problem at f3.5.
Actually i bought a SIGMA fisheye
2.8/16mm at ebay - for 220US$ -
still now i ask myself about its
quality - any opinions here about?
What do you think about the 2/28mm?
I can get it for ca 240 US$ - is
that okay?
Thanks for your courtesy
have a nice Xmas and a Happy New Year
with regards, Christoph
