rec.photo (before it was split to form a bunch of rec.photo.* groups)
it have been around a long time, since about 1984, most internet users
don't use newsgroups, so that the rise of internet auctions has greatly
increased the number of people participating in the internet used market.
this would change the demand for OM stuff, but it increased the supply as
people who didn't even consider tryingto sell stuff now decided to unload
it.
