I have a lens test of the 24-40mm F3.5 Sun Macro Zoom lens in my copy of
the 1978 "Modern Photography" Annual Photo Buying Guide. The lens rated their
"Very Good" or "Excellent" rating at all three tested focal lengths and all
apertures except for f22 where they claimed it was diffraction limited.
There are also tests of the 38-90mm f3.5 and 80-240mm f4 Sun lenses in the
guide. The former did very well also, but the latter wasn't a very good
performer.
Sun was consistent at pricing their lenses. All three listed for the
same $198.
