Hello list,
The previous digest #1280 has an attachment called Happy99.exe
- do not run this program - it is a Trojan Horse virus. It's not a very
malignant virus but none the less it's very sneaky in what it does. It
replaces your winsock.dll with one of it's own which then attaches
the Happy99.exe file to every email you send. Another side effect is
that the new nasty version of winsock.dll is not very good and will
slow your connection speeds down. Obviously this only effects you
if you are running Windows.
How to get rid of it (only if you *did* run it):
Go to http://www.yahoo.co.uk and search for "happy99"
There is a link to a page named:
"How to rid your computer of the Happy99 virus"
With thanks to various contributors on the Psion Series 5
mailinglist, which had this virus a short while ago too.
Greetings, Frank Wijsmuller.
