it will be multi-coated only if 1) it says "MC" on the front or 2) it
has a green reflection in the glass. Otherwise, it is single coated.
I don't get too hung up on MC vs. SC, but I can say that the lack of
flare in a lens can really help when the sun is low in the sky (early
morning or late afternoon). I have a shot with my new sigma 28/1.8 with
the sun right in the frame with no flare, yet my old sigma 18/2.8 (mc)
flares like crazy if the sun is the frame. My experience with single
coated zuikos is that they flare pretty bad, but in pink tones!
If you are careful, sc lenses can be fine.
don't forget filters add flare and degrade picture quality unless they
are also mc.
