I'm going to play the OM heretic here to say that if you're doing
medical work, you might consider the 90-180/4.5 Vivitar Series I. It will
allow a variety of working distances and magnifications, is absurdly
sharp, and (even though expensive and hard to find) relatively cheap compared
to the seductive 90/2.0. It will also work well for portraits.
