Right, so on one hand, I keep hearing the Loony11 or Loony16 rule (f:16 or
f:11 for 1/ASA) for shooting the moon, regardless, and it makes sense:
front lit by the sun, duh.
On the other hand, in Michael Covington's amateur astrophoto book (great
resource! and you get to see some sweet Zuikos too :-)) has a table at the
end with exposure guidelines, and has different settings for different
phases.
WHat gives? As I see it, phase shouldn't matter--how much of the moon is
lit by the sun should be irrelevant. "Hmm, only half of this wall is in
direct light, so I'll have to add a stop to compensate."
But Mike can't be wrong.... Someone please set me right. Thanks,
