yeah, I've seen the grip head - really neat. Just for grins I put a bid in
on ebay for a gitzo rational #4 head. I didn't meet his reserve, so I
probably won't get it.
I have this crazy idea of building my own tripod. Probably never do it though.
I think I need more than one tripod. One for 35mm, and one for our future
bender 4x5. The bender 4x5 is extremely light weight, but I think separate
tripods would be best. My wife wants to also shoot birds with a 600mm
mirror lens, so the 35mm tripod has to be sturdy enough for that. I'm
hopefully getting a bender pinhole camera for my 40th birthday next month,
but I think that camera is so light (it's a small box) that a 35mm tripod
would be fine.
