Dear OMers,
I recently purchased a bargain priced 250 film back 1,
which has bad foam seals. The seal remnants only cover portions of the rails
on both the back and front sides of the unit and I wanted to find out if this
is normal or whether I need to place them everywhere. Here is what is on the
unit currently:
On the side of the unit facing the camera's back the foam
is only on the left hand vertical edge and another short piece in the channel
on the base edge on the left hand side. Elsewhere the channel has no foam.
This seems it could be right given that the camera back that mates with this,
has foam seals as well.
On the removeable back cover there is foam only in the section of channel on
the upper edge around the U-section (which fits around the eye-piece) and for
about a 1/4 inch on either side.
On the lower edge of this cover the foam extends in both directions to the
parts where the back cover starts to curve around.
The only other part where there is foam is in the part of the body which
locks the back cover on (on the right viewed from rear). There is no other
foam on the cast body at the rear in the U channel.
If somebody could check their 250 back and verify that the foam positions
described here are correct I would really appreciate it.
Regards,
Tim Hughes
