Right. Well, after having received my Zuiko 100mm F/2.0 back from the shop
with a thorough cleaning, I'm ready to tackle my ever-so-wonky Winder 2.
It appears to fire erratically while being mounted on a body (and it doesn't
matter which -- I've tried it on an OM-1n, an OM-2s and an OM-4), but won't
actuate or wind on once completely mounted. So, I took it off and tried
shorting the two little spring-loaded contacts while pressing the trigger. The
winder operates if I just short the contacts (regardless of whether the
trigger's being pressed or not), and if I short them and press down slightly it
will continue to operate -- but if I press down all the way (so that the
contacts would be in the same position as if the winder was mounted on a body),
the winder stops working again.
Oddly enough, if I hold the trigger switch down while this is happening, the
winder will continue to operate after I stop shorting the contacts for as long
as I hold the trigger down. If I release the trigger and then engage it again
before the winder completely stops, it'll respond to the trigger regardless of
whether the contacts are shorted or not. If I try to engage the trigger after
the winder stops, nothing happens.
This behaviour occurs whether the winder is in single-shot or sequence mode.
Anybody got any ideas? I'm flat out of 'em, myself.
Thanks in advance.
Garth
