I just recieved the 21mm/2.0 lens that I purchased off ebay -- I intended
to replace my 21mm/3.5. But alas, though the glass was beautiful, some hack
had disassembled the lens and virtually destroyed it: dust inside, mangled
back lip/protector?, loose front element, missing screw. The seller stated
exc+ but I'd say it's more like bgn quality. A real shame. I won't list the
seller's name yet til this is resolved (glad I used my credit card) but
don't be surprised if you see this one come up for auction in a week or so.
Caveat emptor.
You might do well to price getting the thing repaired. A good tech can work
miracles with a lens and often produce something better than original. I am
lucky to live in Korea where good techs cost less than a burger at McDonalds
for 1 hour, but in the states they charge a fortune, maybe you could work
something out with the seller. As long as it is not optically scarred,
anything is possible.
