I vote yes for these manipulations. I think George should be able to use his judgment, as long as it does not alter the intent or basic nature of the image sent to him. The 50 mm was not a problem to me...I use a "normal" a great deal in my professional work and find that I like its renditions. The zuiko 50's (I own a 3.5macro and a 1.4) are my constant companions. I also use a TLR Rollei...it has the same zoom qualities. You zoom your feet closer for a closeup...you zoom backwards for a longer shot. Not too complicated and it always works. Using one lens is a good discipline and I would encourage more ADITL exercises restricted to submissions with only one focal length. That's my $.02...I'm sure some will disagree.
