Hello Dan,
I have two suggestons:
1. Make a tool that fits. I once made one from a piece of glass
fiber circuit board and two screws, which I had ground to a point
fitting the holes in the cap. That tool unfortunately tends to
scratch the cap. Nowadays I use my spanner wrench with pointy tips.
2. Use a medium hard rubber stopper. Push it hard on the cap and
turn. With a bit of luck the cap comes loose. It is after all just
an ordinary screw with a large head.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Lars
