Yes, I went out on the Thursday afternoon for an hour or so of weak sunshine
between heavy showers. Took my 50/1.8 SC pictorial Zuiko after trying out my
'new' MC version some weeks ago and finding it harsh, contrasty and much too
Nik*or-like.
Up to last year, when I used 50mm lenses much more of the time, I could walk
up to a viewing position with a pretty good idea of what I'd get in the
viewfinder before taking the camera out, but after using zooms for a few
months, I've quite lost this ability. Driving my LPC 'suvs' back and forth
with my eye at the finder, I both trod in something soft and slippery and
nettled my right wrist. Oh dear, I kept wishing for just a bit of zoom! Am I
being drawn towards the new-fangled convenience gear? Will it be spot
metering and autofocus next?
