Hello!
We appreciate your interest in SILICON FILM TECHNOLOGIES.
We apologize for the delay, due to technical problems with our mail server
we are now
able to acknowledge your message.
Our target date for initial availability is late FALL 1999.
The digital system will be available directly from SILICON FILM TECHNOLOGIES
via the internet with an initial unit price of under US $800.
This is not our official list of targeted cameras, but they will be the high
end modern Canons and Nikons. For example, the EOS1N, A2/5, F5 and N90
class of cameras.
We will keep you posted on our progress via e-mail and through updates of
our site www.siliconfilm.com.
Thank you for your patience!

Dear SiliconFilm,
Your "Guest Book" on your web site is not very promising for minority
players -- neither my printer (QMS) nor camera (Olympus) nor digital
camera (Vivitar) were allowed as options. You should at least have an
"other" that can be selected, so I don't think I'm casting a vote for
Canon, which remains selected when one fills in the "other" fields.
Thank goodness your form at least allowed me select Macintosh!
I realize you want to address as large a market as possible, but with
your odd-ball product, specs, and price -- which don't really compete
well with digital cameras -- you should probably pay more attention to
those who "Think different."
In particular, it seems to me that those with large investments in
exotic optics would be more likely to buy your product than would be the
owner of your initial target models (consumer wonderbrick cameras), who
is more likely to just buy a digital camera instead. My guess is a
Leica, Contax, or Olympus owner is more likely to buy your product than
a Canon or Nikon owner.
It would seem to me that the beauty of your concept is the universality
of the 35mm format, which you negate when you target specific model owners.
