Looks like silicone would be a bad idea all around, as one list member
and another source I ran across warns against it.
I took the mount off and looked around in there. No sign of corrosion yet,
despite
lots of small, shiny parts. Put a little "deOxit" on the only electrical
contact
I saw, and cleaned up some dirt that had accumulated in a couple spots.
Next might be removing the bottom plate. Has anyone done this? I assume its not
as tricky
as lifting the top plate.
