Since I don't collect in info programmatically, you're right, it would be
hard. But I've tried to filter out the odd auctions where it was ended
early or the item was a DIY'er that needs help. I have all the history
back through June in captured .PDF files, so I could research it, but it's
relatively tedious.
I've noticed the relisters. Maybe Ebay's policies will make it more
expensive for this type of behavior. Some guys just don't get it! I
noticed a Pen FT & 38/1.8 listed for a starting $650!. I emailed the
seller and asked him: "Why?". His response was a dealer appraised the
camera/lens for that price last year. That's just another case of an
appraiser feathering his nest and over-estimating. This is common over all
the auction world. Many sellers want RETAIL, not auction prices! This is
what Ebay is trying to discourage with its modified reserve
pricing. Otherwise, someone will relist until doomsday, just like that
guy did with the Zuiko 500/8. I must have seen it 5 times, always with a
reserve >$500. There's a guy right now that has a Pen FT outfit for $2,000
w/3 lenses (if memory serves me, Ebay is down right now!). That's optimism
for you.

There's at least one guy (tranfoto, in Michigan) who lists the same 50/3.5
over and over. It'd be interesting to see how many of those "didn't meet
reserve" auctions were relistings.; as interesting, but potentially harder
to gather, would be how many of the ones that sold had been listed
previously and didn't meet reserve.
