Not to be a Luddite or anything, but I've been playing around with
flashbulbs lately. It's one of the other reasons I kept my OM-1 - it has an
"FP" setting for the flash. With flashbulbs, you can easily get guide
numbers of 450 feet (!), and shoot up to 1/250 sec. The quality of the
light is much softer than electronic flash also. Kinda tough to do outdoor
fill flash though. They have a tendency to light up the whole neighborhood!
