I recently made a command decision regarding which camera brand to keep and
which to sell. My decision was tough, since the Yashica had a better
shutter than my OM-1, and the Yashica came with multi-coated lenses while
my OM-1 has single coated ones. The Yashica is my wife's old system (she
has since moved on to N*k*n), yet it still looked appealing to me. Yashica
cameras are extremely under valued also. They have excellent lenses (some
think that they are copies/rebrands of the Zeiss versions) for cheap. The
Yashica FX-D Quartz is also lighter weight than the OM-1. The battery issue
with the yashica didn't bother me either (camera doesn't work without
batteries), while the issue with the OM-1 was bothersome to me (buy
environmentally un-friendly mercury batteries or pay 30$ for a conversion?).
I'm keeping the Olympus and selling the Yashica. Anyone interested please
contact me off line.
Be seeing you.
