Whether the lens itself is actually SC or MC doesn't really matter. When you
put a filter on a lens you will get some image degradation (maybe not
noticeable, but it's there). One component of this degradation is flare from
the additional glass surface(s). Coating the filter helps reduce ADDED flare,
with an MC filter adding less flare than an SC one. In general, an MC filter
will always be better (less degradation) than an SC or uncoated one, all else
being equal. Of course, all else rarely is equal, so YMMV.
