It has given me yet another reason for lusting after the 1.4X Zuiko
Teleconverter which would put the 35mm at a 50mm focal length.
Save your pennies, John. There are plenty of reasons to lust after
the 1.4x, but putting it on the 35 shift isn't one of them. It will
go on when the lens is centered, but fits so snugly that the lens
will no longer shift.
Besides, if you have PhotoVista, you don't really need to use optical
shift. PhotoVista does partial pans with any focal length. Spring for
the checkerboard screen (I've got 'em in all my bodies) and make sure
you overlap at least 250f each frame. I've done successful 90mm and
180mm partial pans this way. An added benefit is that parallax error
is less significant at longer focal lengths.
Oh No! I think I'm catching whatever it is that's been going around the
list recently.
Based on wanting a 1.4x? I'd say you don't have to worry yet, until
you start lusting after the 24 shift, that is... ("Architectural
specialty lens?" Only if you consider trees, canyons, mountains, and
waterfalls as architecture... :-)
