Shortly after the light started to get brighter, I set off for my parents'
house and the clutch cable broke - the very first time in the six years I've
owned it that my old Vauxhall Nova has left me stranded. Doubly unlucky, I
phoned my usual car mechanic and he was out for the day - looking at the
eclipse!
Before that, at the time of the eclipse totality, neither looking at nor
pointing anything at the sun, I took two commemorative shots of our street.
There was hardly any cloud and shadows were being cast, but based on the
exposure indicated by my OM-40 on Auto, 'Sunny f16' became 'Sunny f2.'
