This has quite an interesting history. I bought it as Xara Studio v1.0
about three years ago - just before it was released, converted and renamed
for the PC after being successful in Europe on Acorn computers as "Draw
..."(something). I was SO impressed by their demo CD ROM that stressed how
much better, faster, easier it was compared to Corel Draw. I ordered it
straight away from Xara Ltd., especially as a Corel Draw user I qualified
for a 50 0iscount!
The Corel-knocking approach must have annoyed the Canadian Corp because six
months later I was informed by Xara Ltd that Corel were taking over the
world distribution and was offered the 'upgrade' to CorelXara v1.1, which I
agreed to and was later given a free upgrade to v1.5. I was interested to
see the new price for v2 because last time I looked they wanted a lot more
for an upgrade to it from v1.5.
As you say, it's a superb program with probably the best on-screen help and
it has been my favourite ever software, though I've neglected it a bit of
late after trying to come to grips with Paint Shop Pro.
