I remember a demonstration in which some well known photographers were
given p&s cameras and "amateur" photographers were given top-of-the-line
SLRs to use for a day or so. The results showed... you guessed it, the
pros photos were at their best, given the equipment, with composition,
creativity, and interest. The others were just pictures.
I believe in good equipment, but sometimes I believe that is an excuse
or laziness on behalf of many individuals for making sure the photo was
well made in the first place.
