Yes, that's normal for macro lenses sold in the US. For those of us living
in metric counties (isn't that everyone else? :-), this is one of the few
drawbacks from buying lenses and flashes from the US. Although with
flashes you can easily buy a new metric calculator panel.

All of the macro lenses that focus to infinity without extension have this
"feature". That would be the 50/2, 50/3.5 and 90/2.
