Well folks, after much belly-aching about switching to autofocus
wonderbricks, I just bought an OM4.
I've been seriously considering ditching some OM kit and buying up Nikon,
but have finally decided to stick with Oly for now. The main things that are
getting to me are flash features, and the thought of owning gear fully
supported and being developed by the manufacturer.
But I decided that that's not really worth the thousands of dollars it would
take to replace my current outfit, at this point of my life. It will,
however, happen sometime - I guess in 2 or 3 years - the advances in
multi-point AF, flash systems, and [zoom] lens design will be too much to
resist.
In the meantime - I love the OM4, even though I've owned it less than a
day.... I really like the handling, apart from the exposure comp., which is
practically useless, but I don't use the one on the 2n that much, and I
suspect hitting the spot button on a mid-tone would be faster anyway. The
only other thing I'm unsure about is the beeping - I thought I hated it, and
fiddled until I figured out how to turn it off, but then missed it straight
away.....
I need to clean the focussing screen, but apart from that the camera's 9
condition (it even has the covers on the ttl and pc terminals - someone
loved this camera ;-) and it came with a minty 'made in Japan' 50/1.8 -
happy days
Cheers
