I've had an OM-PC die on me, and a Canon F-1 meter died from a
big drop. None of my Nikons (F, F2, F3hp, F4s) ever hiccuped, and my
1964 F has had a lot of film run through it, as well as a few bashes
(and ensuing dents, which add character) and still works perfectly well.
I once watched a fellow photog's Nikon F2 & MD fall from his grip, and
do endos down a stadium steps for at least 60 feet. I expected it to be
shredded. The guy picked it up, removed the broken 180/2.8, and kept on
shooting ! The meter did die, though.
