I'm probably wrong on this, but I seem to remember that cormorants have a
crook in the end of their bill, while anhinga's bills are straight. The
better to impale with.

Anhingas do look like cormorants. When I lived in Florida I thought that
they were and that Anhinga was Floridian for cormorant ;-)
