Thanks to all who've responded!

Yes, I've felt the voltage on that hot shoe before. That's why I was
wondering about the OM-10. It has been perfectly well behaved with my OM-1.
That work horse could probably switch house current!

It would be nice to know what the cutoff is in the 283 serial numbers for
when the trigger voltage may have been reduced. Some recent electronic
cameras warn about overloading the circuits with high voltages. I know where
I stand, but some others may be in danger. Judging from the warnings I read
in a Nikon N20 manual belonging to a friend, it might be advisable for
owners of those high priced Olympi bods to verify any risk they may be
taking. Because of the rapid discharge rate, I imaging it's pointless to try
to measure the voltage with simple volt meters. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks for the detailed explanation on guide #s. Believe it or not, there
was a time when I used a rolleiflex 2-1/4 square and flash bulbs, and did
the math. I couldn't remember how it was done. --Don't infer any reference
to my age in that. I'm only in my early 40's, though that statement could
easily add 20!...Not that there's anything wrong with 60's... Hmmm. I'll
stop now.

Thanks all.
Mickey
