Jeff,
Some of the MC lenses have one, or two, protrusions (I wouldn't call them
pins) that stick out from the back of the lens to protect it if you set the
lens down on the rear element.
These protrusions are immovable and quite sturdy. Is this what you are
speaking of?

A couple of you, (Brian, Gary and Rand) asked about the pin on the back
of my older 50mm 1.8 lens. First of all the front of the lens says
OM-system F.Zuiko Auto-S ....
If you look at the rear of the lens and have the preview button at the
twelve o'clock position, there is a black pin about 2mm tall just a tiny
bit inside the circle made by the two "levers" at the 7:00 position. If I
look at my newer lens there is a tiny philips head screw there (as there
is on the older one) and this pin is just to the right of it.
Any ideas what this is or was used for?
