In connection with 500mm lenses and M42 to OM adapters Warren wrote:

Since low cost long lenses are often presets or have no aperture setting
(Reflex mirror lenses) they are usually very easy to adapt to OM and still
have auto exposure operation through OTF metering : a great OLY advantage.
The mount adapters on these long lenses are usually very simple as they do
not provide aperture coupling. If you can remove the M42 mount (often just
three screws) then it is usually possible to just use an old Tmount for OM
which can be bought for about $15US used. If you need to adjust the diameter
of the Tmount to the lens mount then you may need to get a friend with lathe
to help but even I have made adapters with meagre machining skills. A number
of websites have descriptions of making lens adapters using plastic
tubing,epoxy and old Tmounts!
