Room temp cools the lamp /slower/ than would a fan; I don't recall saying
to the contrary, and please pardon if I was ever unclear.

You don't--I had that parenthical addition to doubly remind people to
handle halogen lamps with care so as not to transfer oil onto them. At
least in the case of torchieres any oil will blow the bulbs out with such
rapidity that you'll be wondering what curse you're afflicted with.
