I like PVA Adhesive (from stationery shops) for jobs like this where the two
surfaces to be stuck are already in natural contact. It can be painted on
with a small paintbrush; it has almost no stickiness and is totally water
soluble while wet and surplus can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.
Left to dry overnight it makes a very firm bond and I've successfully stuck
rubber feet onto things with it after contact adhesives have failed.
