I concur with the Gary Schloss observation in general but believe his
dates may be inaccurate.  Most of the SC or MC lens which in question
came in during the "cocaine" era of the '80's (maybe Regean involvement
here?).  It seems that this cocaine trade offset the high cost of this
high end glass (especially those bright super-wides) thereby allowing us
Zuiks to score great prices on new glass.  It appears that once this
trade was stopped, Olympus had to make up for the lost cocaine trade and
charge exhorbitant prices for this glass thinking us zuikiolics would be
willing to  pay any price for this glass.  Now it all makes sense.
