I was wondering the same myself. Looking at some zoo slides of birds taken
with my Tamron 400/4 wide open it seems the main point of focus was about 1/2
inch closer than I focused with my OM2S body. At this tolerance level, the
focus screen adjustment might be in the microns. Maybe there's a speck of
lint between the focus screen and the seat for it? I'll try critical focus
with some of my other bodies and see what I get.
