I think I've never truly appreciated the sound of the OM1's shutter release,
until yesterday, when I used a friend's K1000 - holy bejeezus! - it sound of
the mirror flapping about frightened me.... On the other hand I was in a
queue in a cafe last week and took a candid just behind and over someone's
shoulder (as in, just next to their ear) with the OM1 and 24/2.8 and no-one
noticed a thing....
Cheers
Andy

Mmmm, the sound of an OM1 shutter! Too bad mine is always loaded with
film; can't savor the sound except when shooting, which, believe it or
not, I do! I was out with my brother and a friend, and they would give me
weird looks as I silenced them as soon as I tripped the self timer, and
made hand motions like a conductor does as the shutter curtain would open
and then close (a lot of the shots were long).
