There's an endless number of flash units that will fit your OM-1.
There's no "best" flash regarding red-eye. My suggestion is to
put the flash as far away from the lens axis as possible. This is
best done by mounting it on a flash bracket, which will require
a remote cord as well. For a few quick shots, you can use a remote cord
and handhold the flash unit with your other hand, but you'll find
that one needs more hands than a Hindi Idol...get a bracket, a tall
flash unit, or a potato-masher (handlemount) unit.
