>The Minolta has competition at its price point - the Olympus ES-10S...
Not really. The Olympus is a toy by comparison: 6 less bits (24 vs 30),
half the resolution, and parallel (slow) vs SCSI. I'll take even a SCSI
limited to work with certain controllers to a parallel port any day!
I do agree there is competition at the bottom end, such as the HP
PhotoSmart, but it ain't the Olympus, no matter what we might feel about
their cameras!
Jay, I still think you're being unfair. You haven't confirmed that every
Minolta scanner has SCSI problems, nor do you have anything but anecdotal,
third-hand evidence that the Scan Dual has problems with any but *your*
card, yet you make blanket statements like "don't buy Minolta." One could
just as easily say, "don't buy Olympus, because their brain-dead battery
implementation for the OM-1n is wrong."
It's no big thing that you hate Minolta -- I won't shop at Wards because of
a bad experience I had once. But I don't go around saying all the
merchandise sold at Wards is defective, which seems to be the equivalent of
what you wrote.
