Unfortunately when I reexamined the self-timer operation, the diaphragm closing
appears to be simultaneous with the shutter opening.
What threw me off was that when I set the shutter speed to 1 sec, the diaphragm
closing occurred shortly after the 4 sec position of the self-timer lever. I
had expected that the shutter would open when the self-timer lever is at its
vertical position. Apparently the shutter opens and closes prior to the lever
reaches its vertical position.
I am sorry to cause any confusion on the matter.
