As I recall, the "ATX" was heavier due to it being a faster lens than an
"SZX", the SZX was more a "consumer" lens. Interestingly, Tokina consumer
lenses were still top quality compared to others' "consumer" lenses. I
believe they stayed all-metal in their construction. I've owned both ATX and
SZX and was very happy with both.
