If the aperture pin gave out absolute information, then you would need a
different T mount for each lens that you bought when only one is available.
All of my variable aperture zooms don't change the position of the aperture
pin when zooming. All of my lens from f1.8 to f5.6 have the aperture pin
about 2.4 cm (+ or - .1 cm) from the lens mount lock pin. Why didn't Olympus
put the maximum aperture information into the pin position? Then we could
have had aperture readouts in the viewfinder.
