I tried to use my favorite OM-1N with a winder 2 and the mirror locked up
today - it would't fire using the winder release. The camera shutter
release worked fine, and the winder fired after lowering the mirror. I
checked my OM-1 books - I don't have an OM-1N manual - and Shipman. All
implied that the winder should work with the mirror up. Then I tried the
same winder on all of my manual OMs - another OM-1N and two OM-1 MD
(non-N). All fired with the mirror up. It seems puzzling to me that the
mirror lock up feature has anything to do with firing using a winder. Any
thoughts?
I've got three other bodies that I can use and I don't remember ever
wanting to do this before, so this probably isn't worth sending off to
fix. Still, I am puzzled.
