Joy,
I don't own an OMG, but if I recall correctly, the OMG camera has one dial.
The dial is on the front of the camera. The other dial you are likely
speaking of is the aperture dial on the lens. If you remove the lens, that
dial should come off with it.
The dial (ring on the lens) will affect the aperture, the smallest number,
probably 1.8 indicates the full open aperture. The largest number
indicates the smallest aperture. Think of the numbers as if they were
fractions like:1/1.8 compared to 1/16.
The dial on the camera body indicates shutter speeds ranging from 1/1000
second to 1 second exposure time.
As you compare the two rings you can see that if you change one ring in one
direction and move the other ring in the same direction, the "relative
exposure" would remain the same. This is part of what your daughter will
be learning in her class.
Since you got this group's email address, likely one of the links to this
address was the Olympus info site, especially the site run by Lee Hawkins.
(http://www.astro.wellesley.edu/lhawkins/photo/photo.shtml) There is a
wealth of information there and it will also point you to other great sites
containing OM information.
Good luck, come back often.

Subject: [OM] Hello
Hi,
I am trying to find out some information about the OMG camera that I have.
Over several moves the booklet was lost. My daughter is taking a camera
course in High school... There are 2 dials for the apertures...the one
closest to the camera also has the buttons to remove the lens...is that
usable? or are those aperture numbers just for reference? I would
appreciate any help.
Thanks
Joy
