<< On my OM-1MD, the screen appears to have several tiny smudges (while not
very obvious while in your hand, very obvious when viewing it through the
camera). I was tempted to try and clean with a lens fluid and microfibre
cloth but wanted to ask the List; lest I mess up the screen completely.
If they can't be cleaned once smudged, I'll leave it alone. Please advise.
Also, can smudges be removed - gently from the mirror surfaces - and what is
the best way to accomplish this ?

There were multiple posts on this topic a few months ago. I don't know that
there was any conclusive consensus though. I think that lens fluid will leave
a residue unless rinsed. I would use a mild dish detergent solution followed
by multiple distilled water rinses for your screen. As to your mirror,
because of the front surfacing I woldn't touchthem. Also, because they are
far from the plane of focus, you shouldn't be able to see the smudges on the
screen and because it doesn't effect the image on film I would leave it alone.
