Why, John?
The silver-dioxide cell (1.50 V) and the series-diode (-0.15 V) give
exactly the same total voltage as the old mercury cell (1.35 V).
I can't see a reason why the meter circuit would respond differently
if the applied voltage is the same...
Does the factory-made MR-9 also make a recalibration necessary?
