Hi everybody,
I am an amateur photographer and have been an Olympus aficionado ever
since I heard (I don?t know if it's true or not) that Edmund Hilary took
an Olympus with him when he climbed Mt. Everest. I have recently joined
the list and was excited to hear from so many Olympus users. All my
photographer friends use Nikons, Canons, Pentax (anything but Olympus)
giving me the sinking feeling that Olympus OMs are slowly getting
extinct.
Anyway, to come to the point, I am contemplating buying a new SLR. Among
the new OM's in the market, the OM4Ti is out of my league. So the other
option is OM 2000. I don?t know if this question has been discussed in
this list, but essentially I want to get a feedback about the camera.
How does it compare with the other OM's? Is it advisable to buy a new OM
2000 or a used OM? How good is the 35-70 f3.5-4.8 lens (considering
the fact that it is designed by Cosina and not Zuiko optics). In its
price range how does the OM 2000 compare to other new cameras available
in the market (Nikon N60, Canon EOS Rebel G, Pentax ZX-50, Minolta 300Si
etc.) Can the OM 2000 body accept all Zuiko OM mount lenses and also
third party lenses (e.g Vivitar 28-105 3.5)? And lastly, since OM 2000
and the IS 10 are similar priced, would it be advisable to buy an IS-10
considering the fact that OM accessories are not-so-common anymore?
Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
