Hi Brad,
I think the 70-210/f2.8-4 is a good lens in that I bought one and got some
good results from it but had to send it back as the internals got shuffled
up in shipment. My feeling was that the difference in weight and size
between the 75-150 and almost anything else that is vaguely comparable --
certainly the Viv you mention -- makes it extremely unique. Basically,
consistent with the OM philosophy. I guess it comes down to whether you
find that you would carry a lens as big as the Viv around. You obviously
do. I'm not looking for another one, so I guess that may just be one of
those irrelevant differences between people :) In any case, I feel very
lucky to have come across a good sample of the 75-150/4 over the course of
the years, and I will not part with it, although I would caution anyone
looking to buy one through the Internet to be extremely cautious and fussy
about it, particularly to check for element separation. Some seem to have
better coatings than others too, as Gary R. points out.
