Hi Kelton:
The 50mm f/2 offers more apertures in which performance is excellent than does
the f/3.5 It also offers better performance at f/5.6, which for me was very
important in copywork with very slow films (like direct positive emulsions).
Why not just start with the 50mm f/3.5 and trade up if and when you may need
the 50mm f/2? You might never need it.
