In my experience, All lenses of different focal lengths have different
infinity focusing distances. Maybe your target of 3 blocks away is not far
enough. How about focusing on the moon?! Only once you have your film
developed will you know if you have a problem. You're over-analyzing things,
take some pictures and have some fun! Relax!
You could also measure off say- 20 feet from an object, and focus on it and
see what the distance is indicated at the focusing mark (should be 20 feet!)
but this is certainly unscientific- the painted distances could be off on the
lens barrel- you'll only know when you get your film developed if there's a
problem.
